The Vastness of the Law

2 Things To Take With You To A Personal Injury Attorney

If you have been hurt in an accident, you might want to talk to an attorney so that they can help you decide whether or not you have a case against anyone else involved in your accident and your injury. When you go see an attorney, there are some things that you should take with you so that your attorney can tell you about what kind of case you might have.

Medical Records

One of the things that you should make sure that you take to your attorney is your medical records. You will want to take all your medical records from anything involving the accident with you, from any and all doctors that you saw. You will probably want to talk to the doctor's office several days or weeks ahead of your appointment with the attorney. That's because it may take them some time to gather all your records and make a copy for you.

Talk to the people who work in the office about a time frame, since they will probably have more information about how long it takes for all the records to get collated and copied. When you ask for your records, you may also want to make sure that you have a signed release for your attorney so that the lawyer and the doctor can talk about your case.

Work History

You may also want to gather up your work history and your pay stubs. If you are unable to work because of your injury, you may be able to add in lost wages into your case and your claim. But to do that, you need to show that you've been working, how much you've been working, and how much you've earned. The easiest way to do that is to show your pay stubs. You may talk to your employer and see if they can give you a printout of your year to date earnings, if you think that would be easier to do. It may take some time for your employer to do that for you, so you will definitely want to make sure that you have done that ahead of time.

If you have been injured due to someone else's actions, you may be able to sue that person or entity responsible so you can get money for your health care costs as well as pain and suffering and lost wages. An attorney will be able to help you with your case.
